Aldactazide Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Aldactazide® is a diuretic combination and it is also known as a water pill. Diuretics increase the amount of urine passed, because it may causes the body to lose water and salt. This drug is used to treat high blood pressure or water retention and swelling that may caused by conditions such as heart, kidney, and liver disease.

Aldactazide Dosage

• For the treatment of Congestive Heart Failure, then the usual starting dose is 100 milligrams daily.
• For the treatment of High Blood Pressure, then the usual starting dose is 50 milligrams to 100 milligrams.

Uses of Aldactazide

• Aldactazide is used to treat high blood pressure. Because lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
• It is also used to treat swelling/water retention, severe liver disease, or severe kidney disease.

Side Effects of Aldactazide

Before taken Aldactazide medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Aldactazide. Side effects may include:

• Abdominal cramps
• Breast development in males
• Diarrhea
• Dizziness
• Excessive hairiness
• Fever
• Headache
• Inflammation of blood vessels or lymph vessels
• Kidney problems
• Lack of coordination

Warnings and precautions before taking Aldactazide:

• If you are taking an ACE-inhibitor such as vasotec, then you should be used this medicine with extreme caution.
• If you have liver or kidney disease or lupus erythematosus, then you should also be used Aldactazide with caution.
• After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Aldactazide with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Aldactazide with the following:

• ACE-inhibitor blood pressure drugs such as Vasotec
• Barbiturates such as phenobarbital and Seconal
• Digoxin
• Insulin or oral antidiabetic drugs such as Micronase
• Lithium
• Norepinephrine
• Potassium supplements such as Slow-K
• Steroids such as prednisone

Overdose

After taken Aldactazide if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Aldactazide overdose include:

• Confusion
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Patchy raised skin rash
• Vomiting
