Avalide Medication- Uses & Side Effects

Avalide® is a combination of two drugs used to lower blood pressure. Irbesartan controls high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. Because high blood pressure can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, and resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure.

Avalide Dosage

• For adults, the usual starting dose of Avalide is 1 lower-strength tablet daily.

Uses of Avalide

• Together, hydrochlorothiazide and irbesartan are used to reduce hypertension.
• It may also be used to treats other medical conditions those are listed in this medication guide.

Side Effects of Avalide

Before taken Avalide medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Avalide. Side effects may include:

• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Influenza
• Muscle and bone pain
• Nausea
• Swelling due to water retention
• Vomiting

Warnings and precautions before taking Avalide:

• If you have liver or kidney disease, diabetes, gout, or lupus erythematosus, then you should be use Avalide with caution.
• If you have bronchial asthma or a history of allergies, then you should tell your doctor.
• You should tell your doctor if you are allergic to irbesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfa drugs, or any other medications.
• If you are taking prescription and nonprescription medication, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products, then you should tell your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Avalide with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Avalide with the following:

• Adrenocorticotropic hormone
• Barbiturates
• Colestipol
• Insulin
• Lithium
• Narcotic painkillers
• Other blood pressure medications
• Steroids such as prednisone

Overdose

After taken Avalide if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Avalide overdose include

• Dry mouth
• Excessive thirst
• Muscle cramps
• Weakness
• Restlessness
• Confusion
• Nausea
