Avandia Medication- Uses & Side Effects

Avandia is an oral diabetes medicine that help control blood sugar levels. It is used to treat a certain type of diabetes mellitus known as type 2 diabetes. It may also be used alone or with another type of diabetes medicine, such as metformin, insulin, a sulfonylurea, or sulfonylurea plus metformin.

Avandia Dosage

• For adults, the usual starting dose of Avandia either alone or in combination with insulin or another diabetes drug is 4 milligrams once a day or 2 milligrams twice a day.

• Avandia is for people with type 2 diabetes who do not use daily insulin injections.

Side Effects of Avandia

If you are taking Avandia with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So before using this medication, you should tell your doctor that what prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially if you have other anti-diabetic medications, gemfibrozil, herbal/natural products.
