Benzaclin Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Benzaclin is an acne treatment. Both its ingredients such as antibiotic clindamycin and the antibacterial agent benzoyl peroxide it attack the bacteria that help cause acne. It also has a mild drying effect that allows excess oil and dirt to be washed away.

Benzaclin Dosage

You should be applied BenzaClin Topical Gel twice daily, morning and evening, to affected areas after the skin is gently washed, rinsed with warm water and patted dry.

Side Effects of Benzaclin

Before taken Benzaclin medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Benzaclin. Side effects may include:

• Dry skin
• Skin irritation
• Itching
• Peeling
• Redness
• Sunburn

Warnings and precautions before taking Benzaclin

• You should use BenzaClin gel external only. You should also be avoided contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, and all mucous membranes.
• BenzaClin may also cause skin irritation, especially if you will used it with other skin treatments that are abrasive or cause peeling.
• As you use this antibiotic, organisms that are resistant to it may start to grow. If this occurs, your doctor will have you stop using Benzaclin.
• Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.
• Do not use benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin topical without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.

Drug Interaction :-

Do not use Benzaclin with medications containing erythromycin (E.E.S., Eryc, PCE, others). If you are taking Benzaclin with certain other drugs, then it may be increased, decreased, or altered the effects of medicine. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Benzaclin with the other drugs.

Overdose

A massive overdose of Benzaclin is unlikely. But after taken this medicine if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately.
