Cedax Medication - Uses & Side Effects

CEFTIBUTEN (Cedax®) is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used to treats infections of the respiratory tract and ears.
It is also prescribed for acute flare-ups of chronic bronchitis in adults.

Cedax Dosage

• The usual dose of this medication is 400-milligram capsule and you should take once a day. If you have serious kidney problems, then your doctor will prescribed a smaller dose.
• If you are taking cedax oral suspension, then you should be taken once daily.
• Take this medication exactly as directed by your doctor.

Uses of Cedax

• Ceftibuten is used to treat different types of bacterial infections including bronchitis, tonsillitis, and otitis such as ear infection.
• It may also be used to treat other medical conditions those are listed in this medication guide.

Side Effects of Cedax

Before taken cedax medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking cedax. Side effects may include:

• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Nausea.

Warnings and precautions before taking Cedax:

• If you have gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis, then you should take cedax with caution. If you develop diarrhea while taking Cedax,then you should consult with your doctor.
• You should tell your doctor if you have kidney problems. Because your dosage may have to be lowered.
• If new infections known as superinfections occur, then you should consult with your doctor.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
• Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.

Drug Interaction :- If you are taking cedax with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. For example: zantac may boost the level of cedax in your system. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining cedax with other drugs.

Overdose

After taken cedax if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of cedax overdose may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal cramps
