Fiorinal Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Butalbital is in a class of drugs known as barbiturates that slow down your central nervous system and may cause relaxation. Fiorinal® is a combination product and it is used to treat various types of headaches and migraines. This medicine consisting acetylsalicylic acid, the barbiturate butalbital and caffeine.

Fiorinal Dosage

• The usual starting dose of Fiorinal is 1 or 2 tablets and you should be taken every 4 hours.
• The safety and effectiveness of Fiorinal have not been established in children.

Uses of Fiorinal

• Fiorinal is used to treats various type of headaches.

Side Effects of Fiorinal

Before taken Fiorinal medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Fiorinal. Side effects may include:

• Vomiting
• Drowsiness

Drug Interaction:- If you are taking Fiorinal with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Fiorinal with the following:

• Acetazolamide
• Probenecid
• Blood-thinning drugs such as Coumadin
• Oral contraceptives
• Insulin
• Narcotic pain relievers such as Darvon and Percocet
• Methotrexate
  

Overdose

After taken Fiorinal if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of Fiorinal overdose may include:

• Slow breathing
• Ringing in your ears
• Cold and clammy skin
• Dizziness
• Vomiting
• Nausea
• Weakness
• Tiredness
