Flexeril Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Flexeril® is a muscle relaxant. It works by bloking nerve impulses that are sent to your brain. It is used to relax muscles and relieve pain that may be caused by sprains, and other muscle injuries.

Flexeril Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10 milligrams 3 times a day and you should not take more than 60 milligrams a day.

Uses of Flexeril

• Flexeril is used to treat pain, and limited motion that may be occur due to muscle spasms.

Side Effects of Flexeril

Before taken Flexeril medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Flexeril. Side effects may include:

• Abnormal heartbeats
• Fainting
• Double vision
• Bloated feeling
• Decreased appetite
• Blurred vision
• Confusion

Warnings and precautions before taking Flexeril:

• After taken Flexeril medicine, you may feel dizzy or less alert. So you should not participate in any activities that require full mental alertness such as drive or operate dangerous machinery.
• If you are taking prescription and nonprescription drugs especially medications for depression, seizures, allergies, coughs, or colds, then you should tell your doctor. Because it may cause serious effects.
• Before using this medicine, you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you have overactive thyroid, irregular heartbeats, other heart problems, moderate.

Drug Interaction:- If you are taking Flexeril with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Flexeril with the following:

• Barbiturates such as phenobarbital
  
• Guanethidine and other high blood pressure drugs
  
• Other drugs that slow the central nervous system, such as Halcion and Xanax
  
• Tramadol

Overdose

After taken Flexeril if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of Flexeril overdose may include:

• Agitation
• Confusion
• Disturbed concentration
• Hallucinations
• Increased heartbeats
• Muscle stiffness
• Vomiting
