Levaquin Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Levaquin™ is an antibiotic. Levofloxacin kills various bacteria or stops their growth. It is also used to treat urinary tract, prostate, skin, sinus and lung infections.

Levaquin Dosage

• The usual starting dose is 500 milligrams once a day.
• For various types of pneumonia, the usual starting dose is 750 milligrams once a day.

Side Effects of Levaquin

Before taken Levaquin medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Levaquin. Side effects may include:

• Abdominal pain
• Back pain
• Anxiety
• Asthma
• Blood abnormalities
• Changeable emotions
• Depression

Warnings and precautions before taking Levaquin:

• If you are taking Levaquin, then it may caused convulsions and other nervous disorders. If you develop any warning signs of a nervous reaction, then you should stop taking Levaquin and call your doctor immediately.
• After taken Levaquin, then it may cause dizziness or light-headedness. So you should not participate in any activities that require full mental alertness such as drive or operate machinery.
• You should stop taking Levaquin, avoid exercise, and call your doctor if you develop pain, inflammation, or a rupture in a tendon.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Levaquin with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. If you are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as advil, and naprosyn, it may increase the risk of a nervous reaction. So check with your doctor before combining Levaquin with an oral diabetes drug such as Glucotrol, Micronase, or orinase; changes in blood sugar levels could result.

Overdose

After taken Levaquin if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Levaquin overdose include:

• Breathlessness
• Lack of movement
• Poor coordination
• Tremors
• Convulsions
• Collapse
