Lotrisone Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Lotrisone cream and lotion contain a combination of a steroid and an antifungal drug. Lotrisone is used to treat skin infections that may be caused by fungus, such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm of the body.

Lotrisone Dosage

• For the treatment of Fungal Skin Infections, you should apply Lotrisone cream or lotion into the affected and surrounding skin areas twice a day.
• For the treatment of Athlete's Foot, you should apply Lotrisone cream or lotion into the affected and surrounding skin areas twice a day, in the morning and the evening.

Uses of Lotrisone

• It is used to treat skin infections that may be caused by fungus, such as athlete's foot, and ringworm of the body.

Side Effects of Lotrisone

Before taken Lotrisone medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Lotrisone. Side effects may include:

• Blistering
• Dry skin
• Hives
• Infection
• Peeling
• Reddened skin
• Skin eruptions and rash
• Tingling sensation

Warnings and precautions before taking Lotrisone:

• If you are using steroid drugs such as betamethasone, then it may affect the functioning of the adrenal, hypothalamic, and pituitary glands and temporarily produce sugar in the urine.
• You should not take Lotrisone cream or lotion internally and be sure to keep it away from your eyes.
• If you are using Lotrisone to treat jock itch or a fungal infection of the skin, known as tinea corporis, and there has been no improvement after 1 week, then you should notify your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Lotrisone with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Lotrisone with other drugs. You should not combine Lotrisone with other steroid creams. Because use of more than one steroid-containing product increases the chance of side effects.

Overdose

A life-threatening overdose of Lotrisone, which is applied to the skin, is unlikely. However, misuse or overuse of Lotrisone can cause disorders such as Cushing's syndrome. So after used Lotrisone if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.
