Mavik Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Mavik is in a family of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. It works by prevent chemical in your blood known as angiotensin I from converting into a more potent form that increases salt and water retention in your body.

Mavik Dosage

• For treatment of high blood pressure, the usual starting dosage for adult is 1 mg once daily.
• After a heart attack, the usual starting dose is 1 mg once daily. After two days, the usual dose will be increased to 2 mg once daily and after one month, the recommended dose will be increased to 4 mg once daily.

Uses of Mavik

• It is used to treat high blood pressure.

Side Effects of Mavik

Before taken Mavik medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Mavik. Side effects may include:

• Abdominal pain
• Anxiety
• Bloating
• Chest pain
• Constipation
• Decreased sex drive
  

Warnings and precautions before taking Mavik:

• If you develop signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, then you should stop taking Mavik and contact your doctor immediately.
• If you have congestive heart failure, then you should tell your doctor. Because your blood pressure may drop sharply after the first few doses of Mavik. So your doctor will monitor you closely when you start taking Mavik.
• Dehydration may cause a drop in blood pressure. If you do not drink enough water, or suffer vomiting or diarrhea, then you should notify your doctor immediately.

Drug Interaction :-If you are taking Mavik with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Mavik with the following:

• Diuretics
• Diuretics that spare the body's potassium
• Lithium
• Potassium preparations such as Micro-K and Slow-K

Overdose

The most likely effects of a Mavik overdose are light-headedness or dizziness due to a sudden drop in blood pressure. But after taken Mavik if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.
