Prochieve Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Prochieve is a vaginal gel used to treat progesterone deficiency in women undergoing infertility treatment. It is also used to restore menstruation in women whose menstrual periods have stopped.

Prochieve Dosage

• To Treat Infertility, the usual starting dose is one application of Prochieve 8% gel once or twice a day.
• To Restore Menstrual Periods, the usual dose is one application of Prochieve 4% gel every other day as directed by your doctor, for a total of 6 doses.

Uses of Prochieve

• It is used to treat progesterone deficiency.

Side Effects of Prochieve

Before taken Prochieve medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Prochieve. Side effects may include:

• Abdominal pain
• Back pain
• Cramps
• Depression
• Fatigue
• Gas
• Headache
• Increased appetite
• Leg pain
• Migraine

Warnings and precautions before taking Prochieve:

• You should tell the doctor about any unusual vaginal bleeding before using Prochieve.
• You should tell the doctor if you develop fluid retention while you are using Prochieve, especially if you also have a condition that could be aggravated by excess fluid, such as epilepsy, asthma, and heart or kidney dysfunction.
• You should call your doctor immediately if you develop any of the following conditions such as pain in the calves or chest, coughing up blood, severe vomiting, faintness, and weakness or numbness in an arm or leg.
• You should be used Prochieve with caution if you have a history of depression.

Drug Interaction :-

There are no known drug interactions with Prochieve. But if you are taking Prochieve with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Prochieve with other drugs.

Overdose

After taken Prochieve if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Prochieve overdose is unknown.
