Prozac Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Prozac belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Prozac is used to treat panic disorder, such as panic that are associated with agoraphobia. Prozac is used for the treatment of depression.

Prozac Dosage

• For adults, the usual starting dose is 20 milligrams a day, usually taken in the morning.
• The usual starting dose is 10 or 20 milligrams a day. Children starting at 10 milligrams will have their dose increased to 20 milligrams a day after 1 week.

Side Effects of Prozac

Overdose

• Coma
• Delirium
• Fainting
• High fever
• Irregular heartbeat
• Low blood pressure
• Mania
• Rigid muscles
