Remeron Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Mirtazapine is in a class of medications known as tetracyclic antidepressants such as maprotiline. It works by affecting the chemicals in your brain that may cause unbalanced and depression. Depression may occur if some of the chemicals also known as "neurotransmitters" in your brain are not functioning effectively.

Remeron Dosage

• The usual starting dose is 15 milligrams and you should be taken daily at bedtime.
• The safety and effectiveness of Remeron have not been established in children.

Uses of Remeron

• Remeron is used to treat symptoms of depression such as feelings of sadness, worthlessness, loss of interest in daily activities, changes in appetite, tiredness, sleeping too much, insomnia, and thoughts of death or suicide.
• It may also be used to treats other medical conditions that may cause depression.

Side Effects of Remeron

Before taken Remeron medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Remeron. Side effects may include:

• Back pain
• Tremors
• Confusion
• Swelling of ankles or hands
• Muscle pain
• Frequent urination
• Difficult or labored breathing
• Nausea
• Fluid retention

Warnings and precautions before taking Remeron:

• You should be used remeron medicine with extra caution if you have active liver or kidney disease, or heart or blood pressure problems.
• If you have a history of seizures, mania, hypomania, drug use, or any other physical or emotional problems, then you should tell your doctor.
• After taken Remeron medicine, you may feel dizzy or light-headed. So you should not participate in any activities that require full mental alertness such as drive or operating machinery.
• If you are allergic to mirtazapine or any other drugs, then you should tell your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Remeron with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Remeron with tranquilizers such as Valium, Xanax, and Ativan.

Overdose

After taken Remeron if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Remeron overdose include:

• Confusion
• Drowsiness
• Poor memory
• Fast heartbeat
