Restasis Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Restasis™ belongs to a class of medicines known as immunosuppressants. Cyclosporine ophthalmic may reduce inflammation in the eye(s). It is used to treat dry eyes due to an eye condition known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

Restasis Dosage

• The usual dose for the treatment of inflammation in the eye(s) is one drop in each affected eye twice a day, about 12 hours apart.

Uses of Restasis

• Cyclosporine ophthalmic is used to treat chronic dry eye that may be occur due to inflammation.
• It may also be used to treats other medical conditions those are listed in this medication guide.

Side Effects of Restasis

Before taken Restasis medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Restasis. Side effects may include:

• Eye burning
• Redness
• Tearing
• Discharge
• Pain
• Itching
• Stinging
• Visual blurring

Warnings and precautions before taking Restasis:

• You should not be used this medication if you have various medical conditions. If you have an eye infection, then you should consult with your doctor before using this medicine.
• You should tell your doctor your medical history especially if you have any allergies, then you should tell your doctor.
• If you are using Restasis medicine, then this drug may cause blurred vision. So you should be used caution engaging in activities requiring clear vision such as driving or using machinery.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Restasis with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Restasis with other drugs. If you are using other eye products, especially those that contain anti-inflammatory agents with Restasis, then you should tell your doctor. Because these may affect the way your medicine works.

Overdose

An overdose of this medication is unlikely to occur. But after taken Restasis if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.
