Singulair Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Singulair® helps to treat asthma symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, or chest tightness. Singulair medicine works only when we will used regular basis and then medicine help to reduce inflammation and prevent asthma attacks.

Singulair Dosage

• For asthama attack, the usual starting dose is 10-milligram tablet once a day in the evening.
• For allergies, the usual dose is 10-milligram tablet once a day.

Uses of Singulair

• Singulair is used to treat asthma attacks.
• The medicine may also used to treat hayfever symptoms.

Side Effects of Singulair

Before taken Singulair medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Singulair. Side effects may include:

• Nightmares
• Increased bleeding tendency
• Nausea and vomiting
• Dizziness
• Agitation
• Fatigue
• Pins and needles or numb sensations
• Headache
• Skin rashes

Warnings and precautions before taking Singulair:

• If you have liver disease, then you should tell your doctor before using this drug.
• You should not be stopped medicine without talking with your doctor. Because your doctor may be decrease the dosage of other asthma medications such as inhaled steroids.
• After taken Singulair if you have difficulty breathing or find that you need your orally inhaled bronchodilator more often than usual, then you should consult with your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Singulair with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Singulair with the following:

• Phenobarbital
• Rifampin
• Thyroid hormones
• Sedative hypnotics
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
• Benzodiazepines
• Decongestants.

Overdose

After taken Singulair if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Singulair overdose include:

• Thirst
• Somnolence
• Mydriasis
• Hyperkinesia
• Abdominal pain
