Cefixime belongs to a group of antibiotics known as the cephalosporins. Suprax is used to treat bacterial infections of the chest, ears, urinary tract, and throat. Cefixime fights against bacteria that may be cause serious effects in the body.

Suprax Dosage

• For the treatment of infections other than gonorrhea, then the usual starting adult dose is 400 milligrams daily.
• If your child has a middle ear infection, then your doctor will probably prescribe Suprax suspension.

Uses of Suprax

• Cefixime is used to treat various types of bacterial infections such as bronchitis, tonsillitis, ear infections, skin infections, gonorrhea, and urinary tract infections.

Side Effects of Suprax

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Suprax with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Suprax with other drugs. Because Suprax and the seizure medication Tegretol are used together, then amount of Tegretol in the bloodstream may show an increase and suprax may also increase the effect of anticlotting drugs such as Coumadin.

Overdose

After taken Suprax if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Suprax overdose include:

• Blood in the urine
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Upper abdominal pain
• Vomiting
