Uroxatral Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Uroxatral is in a group of drugs known as alpha-adrenergic blockers. It is used to treat a condition of the prostate gland known as BPH or "enlarged prostate". It work by affect the chemicals in the body that may cause prostate gland disease.

Uroxatral Dosage

• The usual starting dosage is one 10-milligram tablet daily.

• Uroxatral is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Side Effects of Uroxatral

Before taken Uroxatral medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Uroxatral. Side effects may include:

• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Upper respiratory tract infection

Warnings and precautions before taking Uroxatral:

• You should tell your doctor your medical history, especially if you have liver problems, cancer or other prostate gland problems, and kidney disease.
• Before taking alfuzosin medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or to other alpha blockers such as doxazosin, prazosin, terazosin or if you have any other allergies.
• After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Uroxatral with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Uroxatral with the following:

• Alpha-blockers such as includes carvedilol, prazosin
• Cimetidine
• Diltiazem
• Itraconazole
• Ketoconazole
• Ritonavir

Overdose

After taken Uroxatral if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Uroxatral overdose include:

• Weakness
• Dizziness
• Cold or clammy skin
