Videx Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Didanosine is in a class of medications known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors.You can also used this drug with other medications to treat human immunodeficiency virus infection in patients with or without acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It works by slowing the spread of HIV in the body.

Videx Dosage

• If you are taking Videx tablets, then the usual dose for adults is 200 milligrams every 12 hours.
• If you are using Buffered Powder for Oral Solution, then the usual starting dose for adults is 250 milligrams every 12 hours.

Uses of Videx

• Didanosine is used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
• It may also be used to treat other medical conditions those are listed in the medication guide.

Side Effects of Videx

Before taken Videx medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Videx. Side effects may include:

• Abdominal pain
• Weakness
• Chills
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Pain in the feet and hands
• Fever
• Numbness
• Headache
• Burning

Warnings and precautions before taking Videx:

• If you are taking prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and nutritional supplements including antacids, cancer chemotherapy medications, ganciclovir, methadone, tenofovir, zalcitabine, then you should tell your doctor.
• You should tell your doctor if you are allergic to didanosine, aspartame, antacids, or any other medications.
• If you have or have eye disease or problems with your vision, muscle problems, radiation therapy, phenylketonuria, or heart or kidney disease, then you should tell your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Videx with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Videx with the following:

• Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum
• Ganciclovir
• IV pentamidine
• Methadone
• Tetracycline

Overdose

After taken Videx if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Videx overdose include:

• Diarrhea
• Pain
• Numbness
• Burning
